Do we need Miracles?

Yes we do. Let us imagine for a minute that you are stuck in traffic. You can't move forward, but you need to reach airport before 4 pm. But it looks like you will miss the flight. How will your brain cope with such a situation. You will think that something will happen and the traffic will clear even though you know very well that nothing is going to happen. Hope is connected with wishing for something like a miracle. When you are in situations where you can't do anything this is how your mind get over the situation. We need miracles to take us forward. Coincidences and being lucky is what drive our life forward. Life is full of small small miracles.

She was lucky to get the bus but fate was against

Long time ago, something like 55 years ago, Mr. John or what local people used to call Dr. John, lived near tea plantation at Munnar. You can find this place in Kerala State, South Indian. During 1953's doctors are difficult to find so he was well known around the tea plantation and doing a good practice, one of the few who got a car. Well people like him because of his pleasant personality and willingness to help others.

His daughter was studying to become a doctor like himself. She came home for a short vacation before annual exams starts. The family spends the time happily. The day came for her to leave for collage; they need to catch the early morning bus. He kept his car running as his daughter say by by to her mother. They both set off to the nearest bus stand. Half way their car stopped he realized his mistake, there is no petrol in the tank, it is empty. He remembered last time mechanic told him to change the petrol indicator but he did not. He was angry with himself, but what to do now. Her exam starts today she needs to be in her collage. He despised himself for not letting her go two days before. He was standing outside the car, it was still dark and nobody is on the road. What a miracle he can see the light of a car coming. As the car got near he waved his hand and the car stopped. He recognized the driver, it is his friend and he told him his problem. Fortunately his friend got a half can of petrol which is enough to get him to bus station. He thanked his friend and set off again to bus station. When they reached the station it was learned from the station master that the bus was already left and only way to catch the bus now was to go after it. So be it they went after the bus.

Driving some four kilometers they finally reached alongside the bus, he overtook it and stopped in front of the bus. He said by to her daughter and wishes her for a great exam. He watched till the tail light of the bus disappeared around the corner, then he went back home with a relaxed mind. Around 9am he received a call from his daughter's college that there was a bus accident during early morning, two people were killed one was his daughter. What happen was, he was watching the bus disappearing from his view, but after two hair pin turnings driver lost control and bus fell into a deep ditch and rolled over couple of times. As it was early morning nobody was around and the two seriously injured bleed to death.

For years he can't believe that his daughter died, later he became mentally ill and died of broken hart.

Wish for a Miracle?

Every morning when I get up I pray to GOD and wish for a miracle. There won't be a single person alive or dead who did not wish for a miracle during his or her life time. Whether or not your wish materialize the important thing to know is that you believe in miracles and it does not matter what religion or colour you are. All of us believe in miracles.

But believing in miracles are not enough, we need to do our duty as who we are and what we are. We do our side of the equation and then wish for miracles. You should understand one thing, nothing is going to replace hard work and sound judgment. Standing on cliff wishing for a miracle when I jump ie to fly away is obsolete stupidity.

We are not supernaturals but we have the power, the power to help others. You take a twig you can brake it easily, try with two then three etc with each additional twig it is getting difficult to brake. You alone can't do much you need to be part of a bigger equation.

A miracle is an event believed to be caused by interposition of divine intervention by a supernatural being in the universe by which the ordinary operation of Nature is overruled, suspended, or modified. The term is derived from Latin word miraculum meaning "something wonderful".

In casual usage, "miracle" may also refer to any statistically unlikely but beneficial event, (such as the survival of a natural disaster) or even which regarded as "wonderful" regardless of its likelihood, such as birth. Other miracles might be: survival of a fatal illness, escaping a life threatening situation or 'beating the odds'.

The missing link...

In Western India, at least 44 school students were killed when a bus plunged into a river.

The tragedy occurred early Wednesday, when dozens of school students were on a school bus, traveling to take an examination near Vadodara, in western Gujarat state.The head of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation, G.R. Aloriya, says the bus veered off a bridge and plowed through a concrete railing and into a deep canal. 16 April 2008

"Mostly students were there from, Five, six villages, the students boarded the bus in the morning because of exams," said Aloriya. "On Narmada bridge, the driver lost the control and it plunged into the main canal. The accident happened very close to the town. "

rescue teams rushed to the site to pull the passengers out of the river, but they could only rescue a handful of survivors. Dozens of students in the bus died. Three adults, including the driver of the bus, were also killed. Officials say several passengers are still missing.Grieving parents and relatives crowded the bridge. Many tried to revive their children as they were brought out from the canal. Many of the victims were girls.

Those who survived the accident it was a Miracle, but for those who died? But why the miracle did not work for them?. On that bus was three class mates they always sat on the same side and sat together. On that tragic day also they have done the same without knowing what fate awaits them. Fate was so cruel when rescuers reached the sunken bus they pulled out the bodies of three kids cling together, even in death they were together. Medical team tried to revive them but fate was against them. But miraculously one of the three respond and escaped death. So sad at the same time so happy.

In the hands of GOD?

David was a daily wage worker. He works for local forestry department. His job .. catching snakes, yes that is what he does for living, a very dangerous job. Thirty years of service but fortunately he was lucky of any major problems. One day a local resident calls forestry department complaining there was a snake inside his house. David was called and he went into his usual act. Successfully he caught the slithering animal, while securing it his fingers slipped taking the opportunity snake bite David's right thump.

He was rushed to hospital and was saved. But unfortunately after days the condition of the bitten thump began to deteriorate. It swollen like a balloon. He was referred to a better larger hospital. He needs service of a specialist neurosurgeon and an expensive surgery. He was devastated.

Being a daily wage worker he did not get any facilities from forestry department. His wife is also working as daily wage worker, a sweeper, at a local government office. As he can't go for job there is no income they have to survive on his wife's income. It is impossible to go forward like this, daily expenses, schooling for two kids, his treatment, his family slowly slipped into starvation. neighbors tried to help but there is limit they can support, later they also stopped.

Davids future or possibly his life hangs in balance. He can't see how this will end other than his death. One day something strange happens, he received a donation. The amount easily cover all his medical expenses. He kneels down and pray to GOD, he prayed for those people who send him donation and to GOD for this miracle.

You can do miracles if you so wish, but wish itself not enough you have to act. Be brave and be part of that unusual and unbelievable act of miracle.
